Northern Granville Middle
Granville County Schools
One of the most noteworthy features of the design of this new middle school is not one which can even be seen. This building was constructed through the design / build process utilizing a locally produced, patented panel system. The building system consists of exterior modular precast insulated structural wall panels, interior CMU bearing walls, a hollow core roof deck and a structural steel frame, joist girders, bar joists and corrugated metal deck for various long span areas.

The building is defined by a centrally located media center surrounded by exterior courtyard spaces. Surrounding the center are classrooms, administrative offices, a library, cafeteria, and gymnasium. A 750-seat auditorium was designed to allow use by community groups while limiting access to the rest of the building.
