Whitewater Middle
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools
Whitewater Middle School is a prototype school designed by The FWA Group. Master planning of the site was a critical step to investigate the layout of the building footprint, parking, traffic circulation, auxiliary building locations, and the arrangement of the various athletic fields. The school is located in a new development near the U.S. National Whitewater Center and also shares the site with an elementary school.

The site required a compact arrangement of the amenities because of the topography and available land area, much of which was taken by wide easements for high-voltage power lines and major natural gas lines. In addition, planning with a transportation consultant was needed for the main road realignment and new access roads.
