Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools
This school was initially planned as a series of separate "little school" teaching units grouped around a
central administrative core. Each unit was designed to accommodate 300 students. In the course of subsequent expansions,
major changes in the educational program were easily accommodated due to flexibility in the original plan. The completed
school at the time of construction included classrooms for 1200 students, a large library, gym, and two large multi-purpose rooms.
