specifications of a middle school as published by Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System.
This study consisted of three parts to analyze and assess the current building in terms of functionality, space usage, life
safety compliance, plumbing, mechanical and electrical systems. Aspects of the current building were compared with the current
standards set by Charlotte-Mecklenburg School for Middle Schools. FWA provided various recommendations and probable cost estimates
to bring this school up to the standards outlined in the educational specifications.
The FWA Group developed a Master Plan showing addition, improvements and renovations. The proposal included additions to
Classroom Wings, Administrative Area, Cafeteria, Media Center and Arts Education. In order to implement the Master Plan, the
entire building had to be renovated to meet the requirements of the current building code.
