From the beginning stages of the design process, a collaborative effort was made to create an amphitheater that would
enhance and preserve the existing landscape. The main objective was to combine a palette of materials, forms, and natural
elements to merge into the natural surroundings. Careful consideration was made when choosing both a location and an orientation
of the amphitheater such that during the construction phase, no major trees were disturbed.
Each row of seating consisted of wood park benches incorporated into a block wall with each row separated by an area of green
grass. The ground near the back was formed into two grass mounds that provide additional overflow seating. The stage, orchestra pit,
and seating areas were linked together by earth toned concrete walkways that lead back to the existing overlook of the Student Center.
