Diagnostic Medicine Center
Colorado State University South Campus
The FWA Group, with associate architect RMJM, designed a new Diagnostic Medicine Center to support the Veterinary Teaching Hospital on Colorado State University's South Campus. This new research facility includes animal diagnostic testing and processing labs, research labs, a necropsy suite, offices, and support spaces to accommodate multiple related programs which are co-located in the new building.

The new three-story building design includes many features intended to improve research efficiency and collaboration among the faculty and staff. A standard laboratory and support module, along with a flexible and robust engineering infrastructure, easily facilitates changes in teams, initiatives, and equipment. The building also includes a central atrium area between the office and laboratory areas. The atrium design provides orientation and visual connection, and promotes collaboration among the various program functions.

As the first major project in several years at the University's Veterinary Medical Center, the new Diagnostic Medicine Center sets the aesthetic standards for the research quad on the South Campus.

FWA and RMJM worked closely with the University and the CM/GC, GH Phipps, to release multiple bid packages in order to reduce construction time and meet the scheduled funding allocations.
