Numerous sustainable design features were incorporated into the new IT Building using the LEED Rating System and Triangle
J. Council High Performance Guidelines as the basis of design. The design team embraced the approach, while not formally engaging
in either program, in order to achieve the best potential value investment to the owner.
The location for the new building was a tight site adjacent to the student-parking garage and required a six-story
solution. The building shields the parking deck from view of the surrounding neighborhood and provides an exterior design
in harmony with the new traditional aesthetic for campus buildings. The building was designed to expand by 100,000 square
feet in a similar form blocking the remainder of the parking deck.
