A large, simple brick box houses the sorting and distribution facilities. In front, sits a glass vaulted public space
raised from the surrounding street and parking area on a plinth to enhance the visibility of the Post Office as a social institution.
The small but grandly scaled concourse is, in its turn, fronted by the third element of the composition, a free-standing colonnade
which addresses the street and further communicates the building's civic presence. The concrete face of the lintels are inscribed
with deeply incised lettering, which is monumentally appropriate to the building's purpose and lineage.
