The materials on the new building addition match those of the existing building with a transition element designed with a metal
panel façade and glazing to act as a connector from existing to new. A curving roof with wide overhangs was again incorporated on
most of the building addition to further seamlessly tie the existing with the new. The new curved roof was broken into two sections
to allow for the introduction of daylight to the second floor open office area and corridor.
The new addition with associated parking was sited to minimize disruption to the existing canopy trees of the site. The addition
was set at an angle to the existing building to avoid clusters of oak trees to the east as well as to work with the natural topography
of the site to limit the need for additional fill material and excessive site grading. The location only required the removal of three
trees.
